- Receive and deposit all monies.
- Maintain daily balances in cashbooks and reconcile to bank accounts monthly or semi-monthly.
- Initiate and handle Automated Clearing House (ACH), and wire transfers.
- Oversee and handle Accounts Payable Distributions.
- Make appropriate transfers of funds.
- Verify that interest on investments is received.
- Communication with owners and employees to assure
- timely collection of all receivables.
- Prepare journal entries. Review journal entries prepared by others.
- Post journal entries to computer.
- Close general ledgers monthly and generate trial balances.
- Review general ledgers monthly and make necessary correcting entries and/or advise person responsible that entries need to be made.
- Prepare and issue timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Reconcile accounts payable and retention accruals monthly.
- Assist in reconciliation of Work in Process and Job Cost Ledger Detail monthly.
- Reconcile accounts receivable on a monthly basis.
- Make appropriate year end entries to close accounting books.
- Coordinate year-end financial audits and other audits, such as insurance and workers compensation.
- Interface with accounting/payroll software company if any problems occur or if enhancements are needed.
- Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree, preferably in Business/Accounting or ten (10) years of position-related experience.
- Needs to have hands on experience with job cost accounting and being in-charge of monthly close and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- CPA and/or payroll experience a plus, not required.
- Software is in relation to assigned job responsibilities:
- QuickBooks
- NetSuite
- Microsoft Office.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller supervises the Accounting Department staff and has primary responsibility for managing cash, preparing and issuing monthly financial statements, general ledger, reconciliations, reports, and audits. Assure that Accounting Department functions are accurate, timely, complete, and in compliance with company's accounting financial practices.
