    JOB GOAL: The Specialist Teacher (K-12) is responsible for supervising, educating, and supporting students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks. The Specialty Teacher will plan lessons to target specific skills and concepts, manage classroom behavior and keep students engaged in the lessons.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Implement Universal's curriculum and instructional strategies and utilize classroom routines and procedures with consistency.
    Develop rigorous lesson plans, homework assignments and assessments.
    Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction.
    Collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
    Form and maintain relationships with students' families, including phone calls and conferences.
    Participate in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
    Perform related work as required.
    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Valid PA Certification in area of specialty

    Bachelor's degree

    Preferred Experience:

    Experience as a teacher in an urban environment.
    Acceptable criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal
    resident alien status.
    Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multi-cultural awareness.
    Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
    Demonstrate ability to apply data analysis, new strategies, and evaluation techniques.
    Understand and communicate current trends and best practices in counseling.
    Understand all applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
    Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation,
    creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes.
    Demonstrate the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving of instructions.
    Be student focused.
    Be proficient in computer applications. Encourage use of technology in the delivery of instruction.
    Understand the challenges that faculty and students face in using technology.
    Prioritize work to meet schedules and timelines. Follow through and timely completion of assigned tasks.
    Demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of school policy and procedures.
    Utilize proper discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
    Work well without close supervision and with little direction.
    Be able to solve problems independently and manage projects alone.
    Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
