    Clinical Operations Supervisor – North Central Texas


    LOCATION: North Central Texas


    PRIMARY FUNCTION

    This position serves to enhance emergency medical transport services for CareFlite's sponsoring facilities, other medical facilities, and emergency services in North Central Texas.

    The Clinical Operations Supervisor will work collaboratively with their team to provide emergency transport services by helicopter, fixed wing, and ground critical care. The Clinical Operations Supervisor will fulfill the role of an air medical clinician on a PRN basis and will maintain all skills and certifications required to function in that capacity. This may require the incumbent to work various shifts, including day, night, and weekend shifts at the North Central Texas bases.

    This position requires a personal commitment to CareFlite's mission and core values and the willingness to demonstrate those core values in all activities performed for CareFlite or while representing CareFlite. This position's incumbent is an active leader in the organization and supports all changes necessary for the organization's success and survival.

    REPORTS TO AND IS EVALUATED BY:


    • This position reports to and is evaluated by the Director of Air Clinical Services.

    • This position works collaboratively with other CareFlite personnel in all divisions and provides direction for medical personnel assigned to the North Central Texas bases.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will ensure that they and their team members are consistently performing as One Team to deliver care and service of Incomparable Quality. The Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring their team members follow the clinical practice guidelines and policies and procedures for CareFlite operations. To achieve Incomparable Quality, the Clinical Operations Supervisors will regularly conduct clinical training for their team members and will coordinate the orientation of new team members.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will be responsible for and direct all clinical operations in a manner consistent with CareFlite's commitment to Safety Culture. They must work collaboratively with all departments of CareFlite including Flight Operations, Communications, Ground Services, and Executive Leadership. In addition, the Clinical Operations Supervisor will effectively and consistently communicate with their team members, peers, and leadership to ensure continuity in the flow of information.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of CareFlite team members to ensure shift duties are completed in an efficient and timely manner, equipment and supplies are maintained in a state of readiness to respond to transport requests, and that personnel utilize their time between transports to complete delegated tasks or to further their professional development.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisors will cover AOC responsibilities as needed.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisors will collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Manager on the interview process for air medical personnel and make recommendations for hire to the Director of Air Clinical Operations, the Medical Director, and the Executive Vice President.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will complete timely performance evaluations for their team members. They will make recommendations to and advise the Director of Air Clinical Operations and will deliver progressive disciplinary action when required.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor promotes the personal and professional growth of CareFlite team members by providing them opportunities to support CareFlite's Mission. Thoughtful delegation of projects and responsibilities, while maintaining a supportive atmosphere, must be accomplished by the incumbent of this position.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor assures compliance with all applicable standards by maintaining a thorough working knowledge of advanced clinical procedures, clinical practice guidelines, aviation safety, communication devices, medical equipment, emergency/survival procedures, and continuous quality improvement and management initiatives. They will also participate in daily shift duties as needed to maintain the medical component of the helicopter equipment and supplies in a state of readiness to respond immediately to transport requests.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for fostering and developing positive collaboration between CareFlite and external customers. They will ensure that CareFlite and its personnel are proactive and project a positive image of CareFlite by providing exemplary customer service in all aspects of their operations, including landing zone courses, CareFlite tours, patient follow-ups, equipment return to referral agencies, and outreach initiatives.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will participate in sponsoring and referral hospitals, Fire-EMS, and governmental initiatives and committees to develop meaningful and collaborative partnerships.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing and following up on air medical debrief forms as well as other reports generated by air medical personnel. The Clinical Operations Supervisor will participate in the development, implementation, and administration of CareFlite's quality assurance and improvement initiatives and programs.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will complete all required assignments on time, or ahead of schedule and will provide professional, timely, and thorough responses to external and internal customers, peers, supervisors, and senior leadership.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisors will work collaboratively with their peers, team members, and the Clinical Administration Specialist to ensure that the air medical schedule is administered in a consistent, logical, and equitable manner that adheres to CareFlite policy.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will identify efficient or cost-saving ideas promptly to the Director of Air Clinical Services. They will work collaboratively with the Clinical Administration Specialist to ensure the time and attendance records of their subordinates are accurate and complete.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will diligently complete patient care records that are thorough, accurate and submitted correctly. They will work collaboratively with the Clinical Administration Specialist and other personnel as needed to ensure that medical personnel complete all required documentation thoroughly and accurately to reflect the clinical acuity of each patient. Documentation must also reflect the medical decision-making process carried out by each clinician.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor assists the Director of Air Clinical Operations in setting the budget for their base(s). They will help to identify capital equipment items necessary for safe and effective clinical operations. The Clinical Operations Supervisor will work collaboratively with Logistics and the Clinical Administration Specialist to ensure that all medical and non-medical supply orders for their bases are completed.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality and must attend all mandatory meetings, procedure labs, and training offerings.

    • The Clinical Operations Supervisor must work together with many other health professionals to coordinate the transport mission and deliver high-quality patient care.     • The Clinical Operations Supervisor will exhibit ethical, courteous, and professional behavior, that reflects favorably on CareFlite and aligns with the CareFlite Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


    • Certified and/or licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse and/or EMT-Paramedic in Texas.

    • Current CFRN and/or FP-C

    • Currently practicing as a Flight Nurse and/or Flight Paramedic

    • Demonstrated leadership ability.

    • Proficient English language skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

    • Knowledge of and capability to use computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required.

    • Previous leadership experience is preferred.


    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:


    • Ability to make decisions, which have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit.

    • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.

    • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.

    • Examine and assess the skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell.

    • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.

    • Will often be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.

    • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

    • Frequently exposed to extreme temperatures and bloodborne pathogens.

    • Required to wear personal protective equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
