PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Carries out the mission of the school as the Assistant Varsity Cheerleader Coach, assisting with all aspects of the El Dorado Cheerleading Program, while exhibiting strong leadership with a focus on athlete skill and leadership development.
The candidate must demonstrate good working knowledge of gymnastics and elite stunting skills and be adept in coaching the skills and techniques necessary to not only lead a crowd during games but also compete in Junior Varsity cheer in the State of Arkansas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Arkansas Teaching License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
Exceptional organization, time management and prioritization skills
Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, colleagues, and parents
Skilled teacher of fundamentals, stunt and tumbling technique, sportsmanship, and character
Adaptability and flexibility in resolving common challenges and/or coaching dilemmas
Adherence to values mission including honesty, responsibility, respect and kindness
Knowledgeable in skills and trends in cheerleading
Experience:
Previous experience as a cheerleader.
EVALUATION:
Evaluated annually
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Schedule practices and competitions for the JV team
Schedule away game transportation (1 away game per football/basketball)
Must attend Summer camp with the team.
Must be able to choreograph routines for homecoming, sweetheart, and competition when needed.
Emphasize the importance of academic excellence and assist in monitoring and maintaining high academic standards for members of the Junior Varsity cheer program.
Work cooperatively with the head coaches of other sports in order to operate a well-balanced athletic department.Attend district and state coaches meetings as required

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); maintain emotional control under stress; ability to organize practice, games, travel, etc.
Physical Demands:
Regular state-wide travel; occasional out-of-state travel; must be able to move around outside for sustained periods of times sometimes during very hot or very cold weather conditions
Preferred:
* capable of teaching and spotting advanced tumbling skills
