- Assist Project Managers in preparing proposals and formal engineering reports.
- Prepare and coordinate field work instructions, maps, planning, permitting, and project specific items.
- Locate and mark soil borings, pavement cores, and perform site reconnaissance.
- Maintain client, project team and in-house communication.
- Make professional judgments with support of senior staff members.
- Conduct field observations, material sampling, and testing procedures.
- Prepare reports of field and laboratory work.
- Analyze and interpret data collected from field and laboratory testing.
- Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.
- Conduct duties in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local regulations and AET's QA and Health and Safety Policies.
- Evaluate the complexity of a project or its conditions, recognize when more difficult judgements or situations are present such that higher level engineering supervision/assistance should be provided.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or other related engineering field.
- 0-3 years of related experience.
- Engineer in Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) registration required.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles within geotechnical and construction materials areas and ability to apply that knowledge to the job.
- Communication skills sufficient to convey complex technical information in a clear manner to diverse audiences.
- Maintain valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Advanced experience using personal computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data, accurately observing and recording field activities, reading plans and specifications as related to the position.
- Experience determining and coordinating daily work schedule based on project priorities and client/department schedules.

Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Engineer I position in the Construction Services Group will coordinate project services consistent with client's needs by either performing or arranging qualified personnel to perform applicable project services (as required). The employee will be required to perform field observations and evaluations, perform engineering analyses, prepare associated reports, and with oversight, manage AET project services for construction related projects. Project services may include excavation observations, subgrade test roll observations, double ring infiltrometer testing, floor flatness testing, soil borings, pavement cores, as well as laboratory testing including concrete, aggregate, and soils testing. The construction services group routinely works on projects in the Twin City metropolitan area and western Wisconsin for public and private sector clients.

Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
