    Description

    The Homeless Outreach Coordinator – Public Health is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing special projects for various departments within the county. The projects will involve research, strategic planning, and communication in various forms. The special projects coordinator will collaborate with stakeholders to achieve specific goals for the assigned projects. This position operates during a five-day work week (Monday-Friday) and can be a hybrid role with a mix of remote and in-office work as necessary.

    Target Hire Range: $27.00 – $33.00 USD Hourly

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    Benefits:

    • Team Leadership: Acts as the Homeless Outreach subject matter expert and team lead during twice-weekly outreach, assisting in-house participants with harm reduction/syringe service help.
    • Comprehensive Outreach Strategy: Designs and executes a team-based outreach strategy for unhoused individuals focusing on people who use drugs (PWUD). Collaborates with local shelters, service providers, and community organizations to engage vulnerable populations such as veterans, youth, and those with mental health challenges.
    • Supportive Services: Expands access to various supportive services including mental health counseling, substance use disorder treatment, job training, and housing assistance. Collaborates with healthcare providers and social workers to address the unique needs of the homeless.
    • Community Engagement and Advocacy: Establishes and enhances relationships with the local community and advocates for homelessness policies and initiatives. Works closely with various entities to raise awareness and drive systemic change.
    • Data Collection and Reporting: Implements data collection mechanisms to track outreach activities, participant outcomes, and resource usage. Analyzes data to evaluate program effectiveness and provides regular reports to stakeholders and funders.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, or related field and
    • 3 years of relevant work experience.
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Masters Degree in a related field
    • 2-3 years of Harm Reduction and/or syringe service experience
    • Proficient in community engagement and outreach, with experience working with diverse populations, especially unhoused community members
    • Strong data collection and analysis skills, able to use data for decision-making and evaluating outreach impact
    • Ability and willingness to become certified in administration of Point of Care testing for infectious diseases
