    Position Specific Description

    Persons in this role supervise the evaluation, planning, and execution of tasks to guarantee the efficient operation of all site equipment, meeting production needs. Duties encompass offering technical assistance for daily operations, spearheading site and process enhancements, overseeing equipment procurement, analyzing breakdowns, and recommending solutions. Additionally, they conduct advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and related equipment, with a deep understanding of turbine mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulic maintenance. Their responsibilities also entail interpreting schematics, using diagnostic tools, analyzing fault reports, and monitoring turbine performance and SCADA systems.

    An Operational Coach will support tasks aimed at maintaining the functionality of all wind site equipment to meet safety & production commitments. This encompasses providing technical assistance for daily functions, enhancing site operations and processes, procuring equipment, analyzing equipment breakdowns, mentoring technicians for skill enhancement, and suggesting corrective measures. This role serves as the vital frontline ensuring the safety and efficiency of wind site operations, with a primary emphasis on safely diagnosing field-based equipment issues and ensuring long-term reliability and profitability. You will work closely with wind leaders and technicians – providing guidance, training, and support to enhance skills, knowledge, and adherence to safety protocols. The primary objective will be to optimize operational processes, minimize risks, and promote a culture of safety excellence within the team.

    • Support site leaders and technicians in troubleshooting activities to enhance the consistency and proficiency of field teams.
    • Travel is estimated to be 50% of the time to support our team in the field.
    • Preferred candidates should possess a strong background in SCADA and controls to effectively collaborate with the field team in addressing issues and implementing enhancements in these areasAssist technicians in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving operational challenges encountered during maintenance and repair activities.
    • Provide guidance on root cause analysis methodologies to identify underlying factors contributing to operational inefficiencies or safety incidents, collaborating with the team to implement effective solutions.
    • Provide individualized coaching to technicians on safety-related tasks and procedures, emphasizing the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
    • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and productivity in wind turbine maintenance and repair operations.
    • Analyze processes and identify areas for optimization, implementing strategies to streamline tasks, reduce downtime, and enhance overall operational performance.
    • Offer hands-on coaching and guidance to technicians on efficient work techniques, tool utilization, and time management to maximize productivity while maintaining safety standards.
    • Collaborate closely with ROCC, CWE, CWE, and others to ensure clear direction and support to site managers and technicians.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices, operational procedures, and technician skill development.
    • Collect feedback from technicians and stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of existing processes and training programs, recommending enhancements or revisions as necessary.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to wind turbine maintenance and safety, integrating relevant knowledge into coaching initiatives.
    • Perform other assigned job-related duties.

    Job Overview


    Employees in this role are responsible for the assessment, management, and planning of activities to ensure all plant equipment is operational and available to support plant production requirements. This includes technical support for daily operations, plant and process improvements, equipment acquisition, plant breakdown and analysis, and recommending corrective actions.
