Description
Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in the evaluation and enhancement of combined cycle thermal performance and balance of plant design
Enhance combined cycle performance estimates by using developed tools to reliably perform these calculations and diagnostic objectives in a timely manner.
Determine the causes of steam cycle performance losses through diagnostic analysis of operational data for both steady-state and transient operation, along with plant components as required
This work includes:
Gross performance characterization of major power plant components (GT, ST, HRSG/OTSG, Condenser).
Detailed analysis of ST performance (Compressor & Turbine) to be able to identify stage and subcomponent performance losses, and where necessary, utilize thermal engineering software (SimCenter, Thermoflow or Industry equivalent)
Assist to develop thermal performance testing procedures to demonstrate compliance with contractual performance guarantees which follow client requirements & standards.
Lead technical evaluations of effects GT upgrades will have on steam cycle components (HRSG/OTSG, STG, Condenser, Feedwater and other systems).
Interface with other disciplines within or external to the company, communicating at a technical level that can be understood clearly.
Preparation, Review & approval of P&IDs
Lead and participate design review meetings with client
Prepare/review Equipment datasheets & review vendor data
Prepare Operating control & Safeguarding philosophies
Prepare & Review of Material requisition of Gas turbine, Steam Turbine, Balance of Plant (BOP), Pumps, Heat exchangers, Air coolers, Waste heat recovery unit
Review technical bid evaluation of all key equipment, instruments, and support to conclude technically preferred supplier
Participation in Hazop review & submission of actions close-out
Participation in SIL (IPF) review & support for actions close-out
Prepare/Review precommissioning and startup procedures
Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
BE/B.Tech Chemical / Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in Offshore Oil & Gas Design, Gas Turbines, Steam Turbine, Fuel gas package, Waste Heat Recovery Unit, Balance of Plant including Condensate Polishing Unit, Demin water system & distribution Utility systems (Instrument Air, Nitrogen, Potable water)
Experience in Onshore projects & FPSO projects
Experience in Compressors projects preferred
Worked in Gas turbine, combined cycle power plants, & Steam turbine projects
Extensive knowledge & experience in Gas turbine, HRSG/OTSG with Steam turbine design engineering, including overall turbine configuration, gas turbine design, boundary conditions, temperatures and materials, thermal modeling experience required with one of the major industrial Gas Turbine OEM's
Well versed in Thermal Engineering software tools such as SimCenter, Thermoflow or Industry equivalent
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, thermodynamic cycles and applied fluid mechanics
Familiar with international codes & standards such as API, ASME, DEP
Worked in Proposals, Conceptual design, FEED, and Detailed Engineering projects
Communication skills to coordinate with different levels in organization chart
Commitment to the task assigned, self-initiative and problem-solving skills
