POSITION SUMMARY:

The Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and design engineering aspects of White River Marine Group trailers. They serve as the primary contact for vendors regarding existing and new parts, as well as offering technical support to customers and dealers for trailer-related inquiries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct Cross-Functional team meetings to discuss design/process enhancements
• Obtain approvals for all trailer modifications/additions
• Ensure proper fitment of trailers for new boat models
• Define trailer manufacturing processes
• Update and maintain Engineering Design Standards
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to enhance production processes
• Provide tooling with drawings for fixture/die creation
• Explore new equipment/processes for improved efficiency
• Research and assess new products
• Verify trailers' functionality
• Perform product comparisons for procurement
• Analyze VOC/Warranty data and support projects for improvement
• Ensure designs comply with NHTSA requirements
• Assist various departments within White River Marine as needed
• Fulfill any other assigned duties

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: Mechanical Engineering degree preferred, exceptional experience also considered
• Preferred Degree: BSME
• Certificate(s) or License(s): Proficiency in 3D CAD systems required
• Experience: 3 years in 2D/3D CAD, 3 years in a manufacturing environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

• Basic: Proficient in Mechanical Engineering and electronic wiring
• Machinist/welder experience a plus
• AS400 Experience is advantageous
• Familiarity with MS Office products, CAD software (CATIA/Solid Works, Draftsight)
• Strong communication skills with various stakeholders

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1 – 2 weeks of travel annually
• Attendance at one National trailer manufacturing show yearly (NATM - February)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regular computer work and sitting
• Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Tasks performed align with company policies and objectives. The role involves problem analysis, needs assessments, and applying judgment within established practices to achieve desired outcomes. The position requires independent decision-making that impacts policies, procedures, and practices.
