    This position provides highly skilled technical work in the electrical maintenance, repair, and overhaul of all plant machinery and equipment.

    This position often acts as lead worker and may supervise the entire maintenance section in absence of the Maintenance Foreman.

    • Major Duties Maintains medium voltage (0 to 4160 volts) switchgear and related transformers.
    Repairs and maintains motors, computerized control systems and remote pumping station equipment.
    Performs installation and calibration of new electrical and instrumentation systems.
    Performs electrical schematic work and revisions.
    Follows up on all repairs and tracks all electrical equipment repair.
    Studies equipment manuals, gathers data and works with outside service technicians on complex electrical and electronic equipment.
    Performs miscellaneous electrical service as directed.
    Makes electronic and electrical bench repairs and out-of-department repairs.
    Assists Engineers designing improvements to existing systems.
    Fabricates replacement parts and equipment in the repair of outdated systems and equipment.
    Manually operate pumping stations in emergencies.
    Performs related duties as required.


    Job Requirements Education:
    High school diploma or G

    ED requiredExperience:

    Must have 5 years' work experience in the maintenance, repair, installation, and calibration of medium voltage electrical and computerized equipment.

    Experience with programmable controllers and the use of "ladder logic" preferred. Must be willing to learn Allen-Bradley or similar systems programming procedures. Experience in computer use and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is desired.
    Experience in lead worker responsibilities is desired.


    Other:
    Possession of a journeyman electrician's license recognized by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is required.
    Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
    Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and have a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical principles.
    Knowledge of electrical and electronic terms and the National Electrical Code.
    Knowledge of telemetry systems.
    Must demonstrate knowledge of preventive maintenance and safety procedures.
    Willingness to be trained on computer data entry for inventory and preventative maintenance program.
    Attendance records acceptable to management. Supplemental Information Work may require frequent lifting of 50 lbs., bending, stooping, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Requires work in tight work areas, requiring crawling over and under piping, at varying heights and in noisy environments.
    Requires experience using proper personal protective safety equipment as necessitated by Plant policy and practice. Must have the ability to use a respirator. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions as required for extended periods of time.

    Works around electrical voltage varying from 0 to 4160 volts AC and 0 to 120 volts DC.Requires use of motor vehicle to reach associated sites.

    Works in a facility with several dangerous chemicals including Chlorine and/or Sodium Hypochlorite, Ferric Chloride, Lime, Fluoride, Carbon, Cationic Polymer, and Diesel fuel along with smaller amounts of various laboratory chemicals.
