    The Senior Buyer is responsible for all aspects of supplier management for their assigned suppliers and/or commodities.


    He/she shall ensure all material arrives in accordance with quality standards, on time to business need and within cost expectations.

    She/he will be a self starter with a high level of ownership and a bias for action.

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities:
    Normally performs routine work without requiring detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
    Independently carries out Procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis.

    Drive actions to mitigate potential delivery delays by identifying risks, performing root cause analysis and development of recovery plans to bring shipments back in-line with customer requirements.

    Coordinates all activities related to procurement beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
    Responsible for supplier metrics, approvals, and risk assessments for assigned group of suppliers.
    Analyzes the requirements, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
    Issues RFQ's and PO's and/or IDWA's in accordance with company and government regulations.
    Solicits and evaluates proposals. Supports engineering with material and vendor selection for new, current, and revised products.
    Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
    Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
    Negotiates the lowest possible total landed cost balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
    Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
    Assures material is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, meets the quality standards of the
    company and aligns with inventory level expectations.

    Process and resolve non-conformances in the quality management system by coordination of vendor deviation requests, return material authorizations and corrective actions.

    Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills:


    Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

    Prior experience working within the aerospace industry or a manufacturing environment.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Strong organizational and self-sufficient time management skills
    Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles or experiences.
    Proficiency in MS Office suite
    This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization

    Desired Skills:
    Supply chain experience for an aerospace and/or Defense Company.
    Procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Supply Chain or Procurement experience
    FAR/DFARS or government contracts experience
    Experience with ERP systems, Costpoint or Epicor preferred
    Experience with MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Strong problem solving skills
    Proficiency in MS Office suite
