Join the Space revolution and make the impossible, possible.Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Test Set Lead with the Software Engineering organization based out of Redondo Beach, CA.
Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) represents the suite of test sets that are used to test the space vehicle at the system level.
The selected candidate will lead the software members of the EGSE team to drive execution including design, implementation, SW/HW integration, acceptance test, sell-off, and support for various test sets in the Space craft Test Suite, including the CDHTS, DDLS, CMTS, SEITS, MDTS, TCTS, and PTS, among others.
The codebases for the test sets are a mix of LabVIEW 2021 on Windows 10, as well as C++ on Windows (Visual Studio) and RHEL Linux.
Responsibilities of the Sr.Principal Software Engineer Test Set Lead include but are not limited to:
Collaborating and coordinating with partnering organizations such as HW RDEs, system administrators, Product Engineering, ops crew and test conductors, FBT and I&T users, system test controller, security, suppliers, and program management to provide guidance and mentorship to team members and ensure that tasks are executed, and delivery milestones are met.
Handle overall/general software tasks such as coordinating the successful build-up of host computers, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to processes as mandated by security and functional processes, and resolving versioning and licensing issues that arise.
Track tasking of SW team members to provide visibility into detailed progress to program management, as well as to take ownership of the change/configuration management needed in the deployment of SW releases.
Work with program management to oversee the EGSE statement of work and provide performance feedback for the SW team members.
Must be able and willing to travel to support offsite operationsBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar STEM Degree with 9 years of software development experience or Master's Degree with 7 years of experience
Experience with LabVIEW, C++, and Linux
Prior Experience developing test sets and leading/mentoring others
This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Confluence, JIRA, BitBucket
Ability to travel 10% to support offsite operations
Ability to work on-call/extended hours (1-3 times a year)
Good understanding of spacecraft/vehicle and TT&C domain knowledge
Willing to take on challenges and take initiative to resolve issues.
Able to communicate technical information and issues with team members, managers, suppliers, customers
Interest in cost account management
Salary Range:
$129,700 USD - $194,500 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
