    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Procurement Manager to join our dynamic procurement team. Client is in Hunts Point Bronx, NY. The Procurement Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the procurement process by assisting with sourcing suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain valuable experience in procurement and contribute to the success of our organization. We are seeking someone with Heavy Civil Engineering background.

    Assistant Procurement Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Suppliers: Research and identify potential suppliers/vendors. Obtain price quotations and negotiate terms and conditions. Maintain a comprehensive supplier database.
    • Order Management: Assist in the creation and processing of purchase orders. Review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness. Track and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery.
    • Communication: Liaise with suppliers to resolve order discrepancies or issues. Communicate delivery schedules and expectations to suppliers. Maintain positive relationships with vendors.
    • Control: Monitor and update inventory levels to avoid stockouts. Assist in conducting regular stock counts and reconciliation. Coordinate with relevant departments to manage surplus or obsolete inventory.
    • and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders and contracts. Organize and file procurement documents for easy retrieval. Prepare reports and summaries as needed.
    • and Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures. Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers. Stay up to date with procurement regulations and industry best practices.
    • Control: Assist in cost analysis and cost-saving initiatives. Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
    • Support: Provide administrative support to the procurement team as required. Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, and assist with correspondence.

    Assistant Procurement Manager Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, civil engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • Three Years of proven experience as a procurement assistant or in a similar role is a plus.
    • Familiarity with procurement software and tools is an advantage (Sage 300 and Sage Paperless).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Have experience with HeavyBid.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Sage 300 and Sage Paperless.
    • Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices is preferred.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing procurement processes.
    • Integrity and ethical behavior in handling sensitive procurement information.
    • Experience with NYC agencies such as DOT, MTA, DDC and all different aspects of heavy civil construction such as utility/ concrete/ structural steel etc.
