    ABOUT THE POSITION

    Extra curricular activities are a key ingredient to student success. A Head Coach will take an active role in the physical, mental and social development of student athletes in Boyle County by providing training, teaching and instruction to team members. The Head Coach is required to abide by all Kentucky High School Athletic Association rules and regulations as well as those set by the Boyle County Board of Education and school athletic administration.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires:
    • A high school graduate and 21 years of age as detailed in KRS f)(2).
    • Fundamental knowledge of the sport, health and safety regulations associated with the sport.
    • Coaching experience preferred.
    • Willingness to complete CPR, AED and other required training.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following are listed for reference. Success will involve the ongoing demonstration of desire and ability to perform responsibilities effectively, efficiently, pleasantly and with a focus on student athlete success.
    • Plan, organize and supervise practices and competition.
    • Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game, while also teaching good sportsmanship and self-control.
    • Communicate with administration on key dates, including tryouts, practice schedule, game schedule and transportation needs.
    • Check eligibility of participants medically, academically and secure appropriate parental consents.
    • Provide student athletes a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
    • Recognize student differences in needs, abilities, and interests and modify coaching strategies so that these differences are met.
    • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes. Strict adherence to the guidelines and processes for procurement and purchasing with district funds.
    • Carry out other professional responsibilities including punctuality, reliability, care of equipment and materials, planning, communication, confidentiality, and following district and school policies.
    • Ensure those working with student athletes - assistants and volunteers - have cleared the proper background checks and have completed required training.
    • Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
    • Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Boyle County Board of Education, the Employee Handbook, Code of Ethics for Certified School Personnel and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
    • Fulfilling contractual obligation of the position.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student athletes, Assistant Coaches and Volunteer Coaches.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms.
    • Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and required to bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing duties of this job.
    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Occasionally walks on slippery surfaces. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
    • Requires exposure to marked changes in temperature, including the possibility of frequently working in an outside environment with extreme weather and temperature changes.
    • The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
