    Description
    Job Summary

    Performs skilled mechanical diagnosis, and maintenance and repair work on plants and other supporting facilities. Uses hand tools, power tools, hoists, welding equipment, measuring, and testing equipment. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.

    Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.

    Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.

    Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Essential


    • Repair and up keep of all equipment by operating and inspecting machines and equipment to diagnose defects.
    • Technical adjustments of controllers, A.C. inverters, opti-sorts and all other similar equipment.
    • Maintenance employees shall be able to trouble shoot hydraulic, electrical, steam, refrigeration and mechanical systems.
    • Dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists, hand tools and power tools. Replaces defective parts, assembles and sub-assembles as needed.
    • Maintenance shall use reasonable diligence in looking for ways to improve operating conditions, production and safety.
    • Ability to weld broken parts and structural member using cutting torch and welding equipment.
    • Demonstrate skills in basic fabrication.
    • Services and greases plant equipment (i.e. changing belts, greasing bearings and maintaining cleanliness of plant.
    • Orders and maintains inventory of parts, grease, etc. and record keeping of time and parts in used on appropriate forms.
    • Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
    • Assists other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of the plant.

    • Perform key responsibilities in respect to the goals and objectives of Washington Potato Company to meet standards.
    • Attendance needs to meet standard.
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatably.
    Skills and Prerequisites


    • Employee shall be willing to work in any assigned area
    • The employee shall demonstrate the ability to understand the hazard communication program, including the SDS plaque cards, and the materials handling sheets
    • The employees shall adhere to company policies and rules and demonstrate proper body mechanics when lifting or carrying.
    Additional


    • Candidate must be willing to work Saturdays and Sundays. Currently plant production is working 7 days per week. This schedule is full time, two days a week will be scheduled for days off. Personnel with seniority will have first option for weekends off.
    • Candidate must be quick learner, patient with oneself and others demonstrate high degree of dependability, and a good communicator.
