    What We Do:
    OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

    $ $27.84 per hour

    Work Hours 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Rotating Weekends)


    What You'll Do:


    Plans, organizes, conducts & ensures implementation of Rehab Department program/services/interventions: ensures programming is therapeutic & goal oriented & conducts individual & group activity therapy sessions; evaluates patients; works with unit treatment (recovery) teams to formulate goals & implement activity therapy interventions identified on treatment plans; explores a variety of therapeutic modalities to determine best practice for improving patient wellness; conducts therapy sessions using defined therapy techniques & mediums (e.g., activity appreciation, evidenced based approaches, stimulus/sequence drawings, guided imagery); completes adjunctive therapy assessments based on referrals & patient needs, updates patient's treatments plans to include activity therapy goals & interventions; writes in progress notes on assigned individuals; completes clinical documentation to assure compliance with accrediting/certifying agencies (Medicare/Medicaid & Joint Commission); provides direct adjunctive therapy services to patients based upon established department standards of care per population served within the facility (e.g., adult acute, SAMI, forensic, DD) & plans, organizes & facilitates a comprehensive program of adjunctive therapy for assigned unit & program area; conducts adjunctive therapy sessions; conducts individual & group therapy sessions (i.e., referral &/or assigned) for evaluation & skills/performance development in areas (e.g., social, physical, cognitive, behavioral, leisure); ensures compliance of monitoring, evaluation, & Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI) of Adjunctive Therapy services; utilizes Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) approved office productivity software, approved intranet & Internet resources and information systems in an appropriate work related manner as specified in the NBH Personal Computer Usage Guidelines for Employees.


    Performs other rehabilitation duties as needed or assigned: assists with patients events; prepares computer-generated reports as requested &/or required; requisitions &/or purchases supplies for treatment services & maintains current inventory of supplies/equipment; maintains compliance with department Competency Improvement Plan; completes required forms such as when charting individual behavioral observations; completes request for equipment maintenance & repairs, keeps attendance for general activities; completes incident &/or injury reports when needed; provides general therapy related work direction to assigned volunteers &/or patients involved from hospital &/or community as needed; recommends & completes requisition forms to order supplies and equipment; participates in Rehab Department meetings, assigned committee meetings, task forces, &/or professional meetings representing General Therapy; attends & participates in scheduled supervisory meetings; completes required documentation to accomplish these tasks.


    Provides clinical supervision of discipline or specialty area for assigned student practicums, internships & volunteers: monitors & evaluates programs related to treatment & discipline (e.g., methods, techniques, & theories of Music therapy; Art therapy; Fitness); ensures appropriate documentation of training services; assures compliance of training activities with various certifying/accrediting agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, Medicare, OhioMHAS/NBH performance improvement activities.

    • Or bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation; completion of 1000 hour clinical practicum & certification by national council on therapeutic recreation certification; 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.
    • Or bachelor's degree in music therapy from an accredited institution approved by American Music Therapy Association (i.e., AMTA); completion of 6 mos., 1040 hour music therapy internship at an approved AMTA cite & board certification (i.e., MT-BC) by certification board for music therapists (i.e., CBMT); 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.
