    Job DescriptionSalary: $80,000 - $105,000

    Alta Science and Engineering has a current opening for a Senior Ecologist with a wildlife emphasis to oversee and support terrestrial and aquatic habitat and conservation projects throughout the Inland Northwest and beyond. You will work collaboratively with the team to grow. This role will involve a mixture of project management, business development, team management, field and office work. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and work well with a creative and fun team that includes scientists, engineers, and clients.

    This full time (40 hours/week) benefited position will be based in our Boise or Moscow, Idaho office.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Oversee and manage ecological assessment, restoration, planning, and conservation projects from inception through completion
    • Develop and implement plans, procedures, and protocols for accomplishing project tasks, and conduct or manage field work for projects as necessary
    • Ensure projects and tasks are complete on time and within budget and maintain Alta's quality standards
    • Plan, schedule, and prepare project deliverables (reports, analyses, graphical displays, presentations, memoranda, etc)
    • Serve as a key contact with clients and other stakeholders, and provide timely communication with management regarding project, client, or other issues
    • Coach, mentor and develop staff
    • Maintain a high degree of professionalism during client and staff interaction
    • Actively promote good Health and Safety practices at all times
    • Lead marketing and business development initiatives

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in ecology, biology, or related field
    • Solid knowledge of terrestrial and aquatic ecology
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills; strong technical writing skills
    • Strong computer skills, with solid working knowledge of MS Office Software packages, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
    • 15+ years of ecological work
    • Strong organization and attention to detail
    • Ability to conduct field work, in some cases in adverse weather conditions and on rough terrain
    • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams
    • Demonstrates understanding of market and technical proposals
    • Willingness to travel
    • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
    • A passion for ecology

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in ecology, biology, or related field
    • Familiarity with wildlife survey techniques and protocols
    • Solid understanding and project experience in a variety of North American ecoregions, with emphasis on the western US.
    • 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR with current 8-hour refresher training

    Salary Range
    $80,000 - $105,000 (Depending on years of experience)
