    Alaris Health at West Orange, a 120 bed-skilled nursing facility in West Orange, NJ, seeks a director of nursing (DON) to be responsible for administration of the Center's nursing services and direct, plan, and coordinate service activities. Additional responsibilities include:

    • developing and implementing philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of nursing practice in accordance with regulations the goals of the organization and the individual Center
    • developing, maintaining, and periodically updating the nursing department's quality assurance program
    • serving as liaison between the medical staff and department of nursing services as well as the Center and the public
    • developing short- and long-range plans for the nursing department that are compatible with those of the Center
    • assessing residents' care needs, documenting their accidents/incidents and providing overall proper care of all residents as prescribed by their care plans
    • coordinating the revision and implementation of infection control procedures and ensuring that all staff are properly trained
    • notification to each resident's attending physician and family or responsible party of any significant change in a resident's health condition
    • monitoring nursing care and ensuring that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights

    DIRECTOR OF NURSING DON JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college or university
    • Current registered nurse licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing
    • Minimum of five years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience
    • Minimum of two years of progressive management experience in nursing supervision in the long-term care setting
    • Able to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills and have a positive attitude and demeanor
    • Ability to positively interact with everyone from residents to government agencies and the general public
    • Able to develop and implement programs, policies and procedures
    • Highly knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations, laws and guidelines pertaining to long-term care administration
