Position Title: Data Engineering Intern

Reports to: Data Scientist III

Position Summary (Key tasks and outcomes):

The Data Engineering Intern is responsible for developing and deploying containerized Python applications, managing Kubernetes clusters, and building data pipelines. This role involves working with large datasets, implementing monitoring systems, and optimizing data handling processes. The intern will be part of a dynamic team, driving our data-driven culture forward with innovative solutions.

Primary Tasks/Activities:

• Develop, containerize, and deploy Python applications using Docker.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and build data pipelines.
• Implement monitoring systems and work with large datasets.
• Work with APIs and parallelize processes for efficient data handling.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, and data pipeline tools.
• Experience with big data technologies, ETL tools, and database management.
• Ability to work with large data sets, create data models, and work with APIs.
• Knowledge of parallel processing techniques.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools, cloud platforms, and basic machine learning.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git.
• Adaptability, critical thinking, attention to detail, time management.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and resilience.

Experience

• Prior internship or work experience in a similar role or academic projects related to primary tasks mentioned is a plus.

Education Levels/Credentials

• Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
