- Provide technical leadership for New Business Development:
- Review customers' technical needs and recommend specific product/service solutions to meet these needs
- Establish process concepts to direct quoting efforts
- Support a cross-functional team with technical decisions
- Interact with customers to access their requirements and provide innovative solutions
- Research and advise on market driven process changes and technology in our markets
- Assist in the technical needs of the New Product Introduction team
- Assure clarity while transitioning from Quote through Contract Review approval
- Advise on technical aspects of new programs as requested
- Support and sometimes lead Tier 2 and 3 continuous improvement projects
- Analyze and report manufacturing data on assigned projects
- Provide financial analysis, project scope, and obtain approval to proceed.
- Contribute process, product, and materials research toward furthering our Technical Roadmap
- Other duties as assigned
- 4-yr Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 + years of experience with a variety of metal-based products and processes
- Must be a strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills are required.
- Experience in the Agriculture, Mining and Construction, Appliance, or HVAC industries
- Advanced 3D CAD skills
- Operations and Engineering shop floor experience
- Financial knowledge and experience in product costing and in support of CapEx decisions
- Able to communicate the needs of the customer to NSC leadership
- Ability to negotiate assertively and effectively at all levels
- Strong Project Management Skills
- Ability to successfully work within a matrix organization
- Proactive and Self-directed
- Strong knowledge of Tool & die design concepts and applications
- Detailed experience in metal stamping/forming manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of secondary metal forming operations (e.g. welding, heat treating, plating, painting, fabrication, & assembly methods)
- Metallurgy
- Market intelligence of casting, machining, metal fabrication, metals, and tube industries
- Understanding of supply chain and sourcing fundamentals & best practice
- A personal culture of continuous improvement
