    Position Summary

The Department of Surgery at Washington University in St Louis is seeking an experienced research technician for the laboratory of its newly created Endocrine Neoplasia Research Group (ENRG).

The ENRG has recently relocated to St. Louis, MO, from Baltimore, MD, and consists of two MD

    physician-scientists,

two research assistants, biostatisticians, surgical residents, and a recently graduated PhD student.

The laboratory is currently located in 1700 square feet of newly renovated laboratory space in the heart of the WashU medical campus.

This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Specific projects currently underway include studies of the genomics and clonal diversity in parathyroid tumors, and the molecular pharmacology of calcium sensing and related G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs).

Our ENRG takes a "bedside to bench" approach leveraging access to human endocrine tumor samples, genomic sequencing technologies, state-of-the-art high throughput signaling assays, and transgenic mouse models to study genes of interest in the mouse parathyroid.

The ENRG is the newest addition to the research programs of the WashU Department of Surgery, currently the second-highest NIH funded Department of Surgery in the US with over $24M in annual NIH expenditures.

Over its 20 year history, the ENRG has been well-funded by NIH (3 R01s, 1 R21, 2 K awards, a T32), and both society and industry support.

The laboratory currently is supported by both the NIH (CA and a generous institutional relocation package.

Administrative support for protocol and grant management and editorial support (e.g., IRB and IACUC) are provided through the Department of Surgery.
