    Intro / Job Brief

    The Controller is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's financial operations. This includes developing and implementing financial policies and procedures, managing the financial reporting process, overseeing the budgeting process, managing cash flow, developing and implementing internal controls, analyzing financial data, and managing relationships with external financial services partners. This is a "hands on" position, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the direct reports in the accounting team and executing the month/quarter/year end accounting activities. The Controller plays a key role in partnering with senior management to develop and implement strategic financial initiatives.
    Responsibilities
    1. Provide leadership and direction for all accounting and finance activities.
    2. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
    3. Manage the financial reporting process, including the preparation of all financial statements. Directly responsible for month/quarter/year and close processes.
    4. Oversee the budgeting process and ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
    5. Manage cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity.
    6. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
    7. Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
    8. Manage relationships with external auditors, bankers, CPAs, etc.
    9. Stay up to date on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
    10. Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team.
    Qualifications
    1. Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required.
    2. Masters degree in accounting or finance preferred.
    3. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license a plus.
    4. 10+ years of experience in a senior accounting or finance role, preferably in a mid to large size organization.
    5. Experience in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures. Solid understanding of GAAP and corporate structures.
    6. Experience in managing the financial reporting process.
    7. Experience in overseeing the budgeting process and forecasting.
    8. Experience in managing cash flow.
    9. Experience in developing and implementing internal controls.
    10. Experience in analyzing financial data.
    11. Experience in Mergers and Acquisitions, specifically valuations and/or due diligence preferred.
    12. Experience in managing relationships with external financial services providers.
    13. Strong leadership and communication skills.
    14. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
