    PROJECT MANAGER - ROADWAYS

    Salary:

    DESCRIPTION


    Assist and lead in the design and development of roadway design tasks and plans preparation, specializing in roadway geometry, roadside protection, ADA compliance, and contract document development.

    Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, coordinating with various task leaders, project managers, and office leaders.


    Engage in Carolina roadway design, including traditional projects, design-build initiatives, and municipal projects, while exploring potential career paths such as project management, technical management, and client service.


    Access training opportunities locally and nationally, including an online Leadership Institute designed to enhance engineers' soft skills for career and leadership growth.


    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Collaborate with a team of engineers to design and produce highway construction drawings.


    Prepare project bid documents, including plans, cost estimates, and specifications, with specific tasks including geometric design, corridor modeling, design calculations, and quantity calculations.

    Act as a Task Lead, communicating key issues and project progress to Project Managers.

    Prepare moderately complex studies, construction documents, reports, and supporting documentation.

    Conduct occasional site visits and report findings to experienced engineers and project managers.

    Communicate with clients regarding project issues and attend meetings as necessary.

    Define scope of work and staff-hour requirements for client proposals.

    Assist project managers in ensuring project/task schedules and budgets are met.

    Contribute to technical aspects of proposal production.

    Mentor technicians and less experienced engineers to ensure accurate document preparation.

    Stay updated with industry knowledge through various training initiatives and professional development opportunities.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

    Possess a minimum of 7-10 years of engineering experience.

    Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) License.

    Proficient in Bentley MicroStation software (Geopak or Openroads) and Microsoft Office.

    Demonstrate experience in roadway design and plans preparation.

    Exhibit strong engineering judgment with a solid background in Transportation.

    Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills.


    Capable of leading a team as a Project Engineer to deliver multidisciplinary staff and develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates with minimal supervision.

    Able to work effectively in a dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
