Kamehameha Schools is looking for a Director of Ethics & Compliance to lead our Ethics & Compliance Division.
Our ideal candidate will be flexible & adaptable, have a solid compliance experience and a history in leading and guiding a team.

Job Summary
The Director, Ethics & Compliance is responsible for day-to-day management and operation of the Ethics & Compliance Division (Compliance Division), and development and implementation of a comprehensive KS enterprise ethics and compliance program.
Develops, directs, and manages ethics and compliance enforcement processes, including complaint management processes.Supervises and provides compliance and ethics training for staff, develops and manages structures and processes to provide compliance guidance to staff, and enforce adherence to compliance requirements.
Essential ResponsibilitiesEthics and Compliance Program Development & Administration
Administer and refine a formal ethics and compliance program at KS, including structures, processes and activities to promote ethical behavior and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, the KS Code of Conduct and KS policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining and reporting data on complaints, complaint handling and emerging risks and other trends.Provides ethics and compliance training to KS staff to increase awareness of expectations regarding ethical behavior and compliance, reporting obligations and processes, and related topics.
Develop and maintain processes for KS staff to seek compliance guidance and for the reporting, investigation and resolution of alleged violations in a timely manner.
Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.Identifies areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops and recommends internal controls in high risk areas, and develops corrective action plans for resolution of issues.
Keeps abreast of changes in the law, best practices and trends in order to ensure the integrity of the Program content and effectiveness.
Supervises Compliance Division staff, including oversight of activities, staff development and training, and performance reviews.Responsible for the Compliance Division's budget.
Monitoring Management Compliance
Supports groups and campuses in internal audits and help develop management action plans to respond to audit recommendations as needed.
Track and ensure completion and closure of management action plans set forth in auditsAssists CEO and groups in preparation for Audit Committee meetings.
Track and ensure completion of actions recommended or suggested by Court Master.
Develop and monitor reports from management regarding adherence to key delegations and reporting requirements prescribed in KS policies.
Policies and Procedures
Works collaboratively with Legal Group OVP on policy and procedure revisions.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications -
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
A Bachelor's Degree in Ethics, Legal, Human Resources, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of compliance related work experience.
Minimum 5 years of director or manager level leadership experience.
Excellent leadership, supervisory and managerial skills which include consistency, fairness, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and encouragement; excellent organizational skills with a desire and ability to work in a team environment and to supervise and encourage performance excellence, staff development and career progression.
General knowledge of employment laws and associated compliance requirements.Proven ability to work directly and effectively on a broad range of significant issues with all levels of management within an organization, e.g.
board, audit committee, chief executive officer, executives and/or senior managers.Strong problem solving, business judgment, influencing, partnering and change management skills needed to improve accomplishment of the organization's mission while at the same time effectively balancing operational and compliance requirements.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge, understanding and experience in working in Hawaiian communities and openness to incorporating indigenous knowledge in appropriate workstreams.
Familiarity working in educational settings.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of COSO Enterprise Risk Management and/or Governance, Risk and Compliance management processes.
Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing internal controls and establishing assurance reporting processes in a complex organization.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements affecting tax-exempt organizations.
Experience in managing a complaints management process including intake, investigation and resolution of compliance complaints.
Experience in working in multiple management areas in order to better understand and respond to the concerns of managers related to balancing operational and compliance requirements, e.g.
education, finance, investments, strategic planning, legal, human resources, information technology, communications, community relations and fundraising.Disclaimer:
