AFVN Hillsborough Community College Food Pantry Coor - Tampa, FL, United States - Americorps

    Default job background
    Description
AFVN Hillsborough Community College Food Pantry Coor.

Students at Hillsborough Community College, like many at community colleges around the United States, are estimated to be food-insecure at a rate of one out of every four.

In an effort to combat this problem at Hillsborough Community College, faculty and staff, students and Student Government as well as donors from the Tampa Bay community have come together to create a solution and raise funds to support students on all 5 HCC campuses.

To this end, a fund has been established at the HCC Foundation that would support programs in the "Food 2 Finish" initiative at HCC.

Students also need other kinds of assistance to be able to finish their degree or certificate and improve their lives.

The majority of HCC students are dealing with issues with childcare, transportation, juggling a full time job and their studies, and some are even struggling with homelessness.

This program seeks to develop holistic, college-wide solutions to these problems, helping students and helping HCC improve its completion rate.
