The PAT/ PreOp/ PACU RN is responsible to handle inbound pre-operative patients to ensure patients receive quality pre-operative screening for our surgical procedures and Post anesthetic care patients emerging from the haze of anesthesia.Responsibilities
- Pre-admission testing nurse or PAT nurse duties include overseeing intake, during which you perform an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to obtain their medical history.
- PAT duties include performing any tests the surgeon has ordered, such as an EKG, and may be expected to draw blood for lab work.
- PAT nurses are often among the first people patients deal with as they prepare to have surgery. The PAT nurse is expected to help patients understand the process, answer any questions they might have, and discuss their post-surgical care plan with them.
