Duties

• Provide specialized nursing care to obstetric patients and their newborns.
• Administer complex medications by any route as ordered within the guidelines of nursing practice, such as oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous,
  intra-dermal, topical, rectal, nasogastric and respiratory.
• Assist physicians and anesthesia providers with complex procedures, such as insertion of internal monitors, placement of epidural catheters,
  placement of invasive monitoring lines and induction of general anesthesia.
• Formulate a nursing plan of care relative to patient's condition in order to provide ongoing and in-depth assessment of patient problems,
  strengths and limitations.
• Direct one or more unit programs, such as staff education, patient education, revision of unit Standing Operating Procedures and quality
  improvement.
