Systems Administrator II/Tools Engineer | Bethesda, MD | Hybrid | $61,850 - $82,426We're working with a leading federal IT transformer specializing in large-scale government network modernization on this exciting opportunity.
Join a mission-critical NIH-CIT project where you will optimize the complex network monitoring tools that keep national health infrastructure running smoothly.
In this high-impact role, you will bridge the gap between systems administration and tools engineering by managing a comprehensive suite of network management solutions.
You'll leverage your knowledge of network protocols and performance monitoring to ensure maximum ROI on enterprise tools while maintaining a rigorous security posture.
The Role- Optimize and manage a comprehensive suite of enterprise tools used to monitor and manage large-scale federal networks.
- Drive threshold and performance monitoring initiatives to enhance reporting metrics, trend analysis, and capacity planning.
- Conduct technical analysis for tool consolidation and augmentation to maximize system functionality and operational efficiency.
- Proactively execute vendor upgrades, security patches, and hotfixes through strict change management and configuration control processes.
- Ensure all network tools remain in full compliance with stringent federal security requirements and public trust standards.
- 2-5 years of experience in Systems Administration, Network Operations, or Tools Engineering.
- Strong understanding of network performance monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, Cisco Prime, or similar enterprise suites).
- Professional certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly preferred for this role.
- Proven experience with Change Management, Configuration Management, and federal security compliance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (U.S. Citizenship typically required for this process).
