Laboratory Technician

What You'll Do
UTEX Industries is hiring a
Laboratory Technician
to support quality testing and material inspections at our Weimar facility. This hands-on role ensures our sealing, packing, and molded products meet internal standards and customer specifications. You'll work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Operate lab and rubber processing equipment (mills, presses, tensometer, rheometer, etc.)
- Prepare test samples for evaluation and approval processes
- Perform daily quality control testing and inspections
- Verify materials meet required specifications
- Record accurate test results in quality databases and logs
- Generate certificates of analysis (COAs) and test reports
- Support ISO/AS9100 audit documentation
- Assist with first-article inspections (FAIs)
- Participate in root cause investigations and process improvements
- Communicate results to engineering and production teams
- Follow all safety, PPE, and lab handling procedures
Required
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic computer skills (Excel/data entry)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent use of hands for sampling, cutting, and measuring
- Comfortable working around lab chemicals, heat, and machinery
Preferred
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Industrial Technology, or related field
- Prior lab or quality testing experience in manufacturing
- Experience with rubber, elastomers, plastics, or machining environments
- Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, durometers, tensile testers)
Work Environment
You'll work in both manufacturing and office environments, using tools and equipment daily. PPE and steel-toed footwear are required.
Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
