Job Description
The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform direct patient care while participating in daily operational activities. The role includes performing diagnostic cardiology procedures and drawing arterial blood gases, as well as assisting during trauma and emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Train and educate staff in the Respiratory Service Area.
- Conduct diagnostic cardiology procedures such as EKGs, EEGs, and pulmonary function tests.
- Draw arterial blood gases and manage sample analysis.
- Assist in emergency situations including Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Resolve clinical and interdepartmental problems as necessary.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Two years of experience in an acute care hospital.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Respiratory Therapist License.
