    Description

    We are seeking a Civil / Environmental Engineer II to support landfill and pond management projects. This role involves managing engineering and construction activities related to landfill expansions, pond expansions, liner installations, and leachate systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with brownfield experience who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and balancing fieldwork with office-based responsibilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support landfill and pond expansion projects, including liner systems and leachate collection systems
    • Develop project budgets and prepare bid packages for work going out to contractors
    • Coordinate with contractors to execute construction activities safely and effectively
    • Review and update engineering drawings and maintain project documentation
    • Track permits and ensure regulatory compliance throughout project execution
    • Collaborate with environmental engineers, internal stakeholders, and external vendors
    • Spend approximately 50% of time in the field and 50% in the office

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Experience working on landfill, pond management, environmental construction, or brownfield projects
    • Strong understanding of construction execution and contractor coordination
    • Experience with budgeting, estimating, or bid package development
    • Ability to interpret and update engineering drawings
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

    Preferred Qualifications

    • FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) or PE (Professional Engineer) certification
    • Experience with both brownfield and greenfield projects
    • Previous experience working with environmental or landfill management vendors

    Travel & Safety Requirements

    • Valid driver's license required; must be able to travel between project sites
    • Personal vehicle required; travel expenses reimbursed
    • PPE and steel-toe boots provided
    • Hotel and meal expenses covered per GSA guidelines

    Work Environment

    • Hybrid work model with flexibility for remote work
    • Combination of office environment and active construction sites
