Job Summary:
The Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Medicine in San Antonio is seeking an exceptional Geriatrics Clinician Educator to join our team.
In collaboration with the Health Science Center and University Health System, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and expanding our interdisciplinary geriatrics medicine consultation service.
This innovative model will involve working closely with an interdisciplinary team, offering numerous teaching opportunities, and providing on-site mentorship.As a Geriatrics Clinician Educator, you will not only deliver high-quality care to older patients but also have a strong passion for educating medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as engaging in clinical and educational research.
Qualifications:
Board Certification in Internal Medicine or other primary specialty.
Fellowship training in Geriatrics.
Eligibility for Board certification in Geriatric Medicine.
Appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Provide clinical coverage for the geriatric medicine clinical service, including both outpatient and inpatient care.
Offer complex care to older patients, often requiring symptom control.
Work on regular business hours during weekdays, with the potential for weekend and night call responsibilities.
Serve on at least one University Hospital Committee related to your area of expertise and at least one University committee related to education.
Supervise fellows, residents, medical students, and other inter-professional learners.Participate in curriculum development for learners.
Provide mentorship to learners.
Receive mentorship from senior faculty within the Division and Department.
Actively engage in scholarly activities, including presenting at local and national conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals to gain national recognition.
While the position is not primarily research-focused, you are encouraged to participate in clinical or educational research projects related to your clinical areas.
Emphasize projects that involve trainees, such as medical students, residents, or fellows.Receive mentorship in selecting and developing research projects.
