    Summary

    The Laboratory Technician is responsible for molding, conditioning, and testing materials received by the department in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

    Duties/Responsibilities
    • Molds specimens for testing by the Mechanical Testing Laboratory as defined on the Request for Analysis or Laboratory Request form. Conditions the molded specimens as prescribed by the Product Control Plan or Customer Specification. Performs final testing on the molded specimens according to the requirements specified on the Request for Analysis or Laboratory Request form
    • Performs in-process testing on all materials brought to the Mechanical Testing Laboratory at prescribed intervals defined by the Product Control Plan.
    • Assists in the maintenance and verification/calibration of all equipment in the department.
    • Reviews Raw Material and Final Test Results and determines if additional testing is required
    • Records Raw Material and Final Test Results in the PRIMOS computer database and documents the results on the Request for Analysis or Laboratory Request form, as appropriate. All Test Results for external customers are submitted to the Laboratory Technical Manager for review.
    • Reports Test Results for in-process testing in the PRIMOS computer database immediately upon completion. If an in-process Test Result is out of specification, the manufacturing department is notified so that adjustments can be made.
    • Review applicable procedures, work instructions, and test methods to comply with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
    • Works with other laboratory technicians to ensure that reporting of all results are completed promptly.
    • Participates in Measurement System Analysis Studies (Gage R&R).
    • Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
    Recommended Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent. A technical 4-year degree is preferred.
    • Training in the operation and theory of testing equipment and laboratory techniques is preferred.
    • Skilled in the use of basic computer software, including spreadsheets, graphics, and statistical programs.
