- Coordinates the activities of workers'compensation, general liability and vehicle liability insurancecarriers and insurance consultants as it affects safety and losscontrol; makes recommendations to the General Manager to help limitloss.
- Ensures that all reporting and risk managementtools, including WebRisk, are always up to date andcorrect.
- Conducts evaluations and inspections to mitigaterisk and minimize risk of losspotential.
- Conducts evaluations and inspections to mitigaterisk and minimize risk of loss potential; ensures that safetyinspections are properly scheduled, carried out, monitored, actedupon, and documented. Ensures contractcompliance with all applicable federal, state, local, andcompany/client regulations; ensures that related record keeping andreporting requirements are met and maintained;provides support in implementing the approvedrecommendations.
- Coordinates and ensures compliance with substanceabuse testing program using Federal and Companystandards.
- Conducts evaluations and inspections to mitigaterisk and minimize risk of loss potential; ensures that safetyinspections are properly scheduled, carried out, monitored, actedupon, and documented. Manages the WorkplaceHealth and Accident Preventionprograms.
- Coordinates efforts with security staff or vendor;develops and updates security policies and processes; and ensuresthat all security incidents are properly reported andinvestigated.
- Sets the tone for the location as the expert in EPA(Environmental Protection Agency), OSHA (Occupational Safety andHealth Administration), CDL compliance andregulations.
- Oversees the successful completion of all safetyrelated reviews/audits. Assists with oversightof the Safety Desk.Coaches and motivatesstaff; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues;delegates work assignments considering employee skills anddevelopment needs as required.Maintainsconfidentiality of all information.Performs other dutiesand projects as required.
- A valid driver'slicense.
- A satisfactory drivinghistory.
- A Bachelor's degree orequivalent in Business, Public Administration, or related fieldpreferred.
- Avalid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger andSchool Bus endorsementspreferred.
- AMassachusetts School Bus Trainer Certificatepreferred.
- Applicable professional certificationspreferred. ExperienceRequired:
- Four (4) years of supervisory experience inpassenger transit safety ortraining.
- Passenger transit training experiencepreferred.
- Must have excellent computer skills and befunctional with various types of software including MicrosoftOffice.
- Strong written and oral communication skillsincluding the ability to explain and present regulations toothers.
- Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy,and possess good judgement anddiscretion.
- Must be able to create, retrieve and maintaininformation and reports. Must be detailoriented, well organized, and possess effective time managementskills.
- Must have provencustomer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability tointeract professionally with internal and external customers on alllevels.
- Ability to manage andwork effectively with a diverseworkforce.
- Ability to influencepeople at all levels of theorganization.
- Indoor work is accomplished in an office or in acubicle space equipped with a telephone andcomputer.
- 60% of work isaccomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilatedfacilities.
- 40% of work is accomplished outdoors in variousweather conditions, near vehicles, on the lot, or in themaintenance facilities.
- Mustbe able to sit or stand for long periods oftime.
- Theemployee is generally subjected to long periods typing or lookingat a computer screen.
- Mustbe able to lift up to 25 pounds. Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performingthe duties of the job.
