Job DescriptionSUMMARY:
Under moderate supervision, provides courteous telephone and accurate information service to patients, physicians, staff, general public and Physicians Answering Service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To qualify for the position, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent required. Six months experience as a telephone operator preferred. Previous experience in a medical environment preferred.
CONDITIONS:
The new hire or transfer employee will remain within this job category for a probationary period of six months. With a satisfactory criteria based performance evaluation, the employee will advance to a regular status employee. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the employee will be terminated.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must have clear, concise diction and an acceptable level of proper English grammar. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and all internal/external customers required.
REASONING ABILITY:
The ability to make appropriate decisions during emergency situations required.
