    Schedule:
    Monday to Friday 9-5pm; Home and MassCEC locations (Boston Office, WTTC, NBMCT) at least 2 days per week

    MassCEC is at the forefront of driving climatetech and clean energy innovation in Massachusetts, and we are seeking an individual with a proven track record in people and operational leadership with demonstrated experience scaling the systems, structures, and culture of a growing organization for long-term operational and programmatic excellence.

    The COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is a key member of the Leadership Team.

    The COO is responsible for the organization's daily internal operational management, while creating an environment that supports career growth and promotes inclusion and belonging, in close collaboration with the Leadership Team.

    Also, the COO works closely with the Chief of Staff to foster a collaborative environment and timely and effective communication across the organization and the development of organizational goals.

    This will comprise Human Resources (HR), Information Technology (IT), Strategic Asset Management, Production Tracking System (PTS), and Business Analytics functions at MassCEC initially and may include additional areas of responsibility over time.

    Our HR team, lead by a Director, serves as integral partner in maintaining a strong organizational culture, including driving organization-wide communications, onboarding new employees, training, and development, enhancing our staff's job satisfaction and overall programmatic impact.

    Strategic Asset Management encompasses coordination of policy and resource requirements for MassCEC's three facilities, ensuring that leadership and staff usage needs of these facilities are delivered with high quality and attention to detail.

    These facilities include MassCEC's downtown Boston office, the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, and the Wind Technology Testing Center (WTTC) in Charlestown.

    The PTS function at MassCEC is supported by a team and run by a Senior Director. PTS tracks solar energy generation in Massachusetts, acting as a third-party validator for production credits.

    The ideal candidate for this role will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in managing and building operations and culture, ideally in both public and private sector contexts.

    They should bring expertise in mission-driven strategic planning and implementation, organizational design and development, program development and management, and possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

    Proactively identify organizational issues and areas of risk for the CEO and facilitate decision-making processes;
    Lead the coordination of policy and delivery of common resource needs of MassCEC's Strategic Assets, ensuring seamless operations and optimal functionality;
    Oversee MassCEC's Production Tracking Function (PTS), ensuring optimal efficiency and customer service excellence;
    Ten or more years in an executive management role, preferably a combination of public and private sector experience.
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field;
    MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred; Hands on experience managing people, operations, organization administration, organizational development, human resources/DEI, and risk management;
    Strength in organizational planning, project management, and analysis;
    Skilled in working productively and collaboratively with all levels of management and staff;
    Demonstrated ability to manage, evaluate, and motivate staff;
    Demonstrated skills in mentoring, professional development, and team building;
    Experience with budgeting and financial reporting;

    Superior writing, editing, oral communication and presentation skills; Experience in capital, strategic, financial, and policy planning relating to asset management is preferred but not required.
