Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IBM DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in DB2 10.5 / 11.1 administration and replication management.
The ideal candidate will manage database installations, upgrades, migrations, replication, performance tuning, and 24x7 operational support in development and testing environments.
This role requires hands-on experience with DB2 HADR/DPF environments and strong troubleshooting skills.Key Responsibilities
DB2 Administration & Installation
Administer IBM DB2 versions 10.5 and 11.1.
Install, upgrade, and manage DB2 databases in:
Standalone environments
DPF (Database Partitioning Feature)
HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery)
Manage database access and enforce best practices for security and compliance.
Maintain development and testing database servers.
Database Migration & Performance
Perform database migrations using:
Dump/Load
In-place upgrades
Improve database performance and operational excellence.
Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues.
Perform database maintenance tasks such as:
REORG
DBCC (as applicable)
Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies.
Replication & High Availability
Administer DB2 Replication Server.
Perform replication setup including:
Table-level replication
Warm standby
MSA
Troubleshoot and resolve replication-related issues.
Monitor replication health and ensure high availability.
Automation & Operational Support
Create and modify automation scripts for recurring database tasks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot live production issues.
Communicate system health updates to management.
Raise PMRs with IBM support and coordinate resolution.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation (weekdays and weekends).
Required Skills & Experience
6–8 years of DB2 DBA experience.
Strong expertise in:
IBM DB2 10.5 / 11.1 Administration
DB2 Replication Server
HADR / DPF environments
Experience with database migration (Dump/Load, In-place upgrades).
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Experience managing replication operations.
Knowledge of Unix/Linux basics and shell scripting.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
Mainframe DB2 – Application Development exposure.
Unix Shell Scripting and text processing tools.
Strong Unix/Linux command-line proficiency.
