    Position Purpose
    In cooperation with the parents, the Catholic school teacher exercises responsibility for forming the whole person spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. In this position the teacher is far more than an instructor; he or she gives witness every day to the distinctive character of the Catholic school, not only teaching according to gospel principles and moral values, but modeling the Church's values and beliefs through word and action.

    Responsibilities
    1. Promulgates teachings consistent with established Catholic principles and conducts self at all times in a manner consistent with Catholic moral standards. (The Pope is the authentic teacher of the Faith in the Universal Church. The Bishop is the authentic teacher of the Faith in the Diocese.)
    2. Holds a valid diocesan teacher's contract, and a valid and properly endorsed Kansas teaching license.
    3. Collaborates with the principal to build a faith community among faculty, staff, and students.
    4. Carries out all teaching assignments and other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or outlined in the school's faculty handbook.
    5. Works to develop a close working relationship with the parents, who are the primary educators of their children.
    6. Integrates moral values throughout the entire curriculum and into all activities.
    7. Creates a classroom environment that respects the human dignity of every child, regardless of capabilities and disabilities.
    8. Implements diocesan curriculum, policies, guidelines and programs.
    9. Plans the educational process and implements instructional activities that provide the best opportunity for the students to master required outcomes.
    10. Provides for the proper supervision of students at all times.
    11. Is professional in manner, appearance, promptness, and job performance as outlined in each school's faculty handbook?
    12. Participates in professional development activities to enhance skills necessary to be the most effective teacher possible.
    13. Fulfills the requirements of diocesan policies on suspected abuse of children (VIRTUS).
    14. Refuses to use the school to further personal ends through the sale of any goods, products, or publications.
    15. Considers the obligation to fulfill the teaching contract conscientiously as binding.
    16. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
    Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
    Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: Works in standard office and school building environments.
