    ACHS is seeking a full-time Night Paramedic in our Emergency Department who will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
    • Will provide care for patients of all ages with various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions
    • Performs delegated tasks within their scope of practice
    • Able to initiate life saving measures, basic and advanced airway, ventilation monitoring and management, oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, cardioversion, defibrillation, and cardiac pacing.
    • Communicates problems and suggestions to team/manager.
    • Explains procedures and treatments to patient and families to provide understanding and allay apprehension.
    • Works closely and effectively with medical staff, nurses, other departments, patients, and families.
    • Provides constant monitoring and assessment of patient and reports changes to the provider or registered nurse.
    • Works willingly with a positive attitude, treats patients, significant others, and co-workers with respect.
    • Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
    • Complies with compliance policy, all laws, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations.
    • Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
    • Attends all mandatory meetings either in person or remote.
    • Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and always complying with hazardous waste procedures.
    • Maintains the confidentiality of patient, employee, and organization information.
    • Administer direct patient care to critically ill or injured patients in compliance with established protocols and standards of care in the ED.
    • Restock supplies.
    • Med/Surg area: will assist nurse with patient care within scope of practice. Excludes admission and daily shift assessment.
    • Demonstrates a willingness to assume unexpected tasks not identified in the job description.
    Requirements
    • National Standard Paramedic Certification by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of EMS
    • Current Critical Care Paramedic endorsement by the state of Iowa Bureau of EMS preferred or willingness to obtain certification after hire
    • Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS Certificates. PHTLS required but can be completed within 6 months of hire.
    • Minimum two years work experience preferred.
