    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Engineering Manager to join our clients reputable business based in Newport.
    The company is one of the UK's largest supplier of steel reinforcement and associated products for concrete.

    With a network of strategically placed manufacturing locations, they are recognised as a market leader, supplying major contractors and blue-chip companies.

    The Package Details Are As FollowsLocation - NewportSalary: 45k per annum & Bonus Scheme

    Working Hours:
    39 hours per week.
    Shifts to be 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.00pm Friday.

    Develop a clear strategy to improve onsite engineering services that support world class manufacturing methodsDesign clear and sustainable policies and procedures for the business and the team to operate byBenchmark activities with other leading manufacturingIntroduce systematic control methodsChange behaviours within the function to provide world class serviceDevelop expertise in the onsite equipmentDefine the necessary maintenance activities that will impact on manufacturing performance of the siteLiaise with other managers across the organisation to ensure that process recommendations and plans are integrated with other parts of the business and aligned with the overall corporate objectivesDefine AMP (Annual Maintenance Plan) for the site in line with manufacturing targets Manage specific projects and undertake specific project activityEvaluate the results of all projects and prepare recommendations for senior managers about significant changes to be made to resources, procedures, systems or technologyEnsure implementations of projects for expanding and/or modifying the production linesAllocate project work to the most advisable contractorsDeliver a number of key strategic projects in line with Total Quality Management (TQM) and continuous improvementProvide technical advice in important, complex and difficult engineering projects Plan, prioritise, schedule and manage maintenance activities to rectify break-downs, malfunctions and minimise business disruptionsMaintain system of breakdown dataGenerate reports to identify potential deviationsCreate work lists for engineers according to priorityMonitor maintenance activity, intervening when necessaryReact to engineer feedbackLiaise with functional or operational area managers to coordinate scheduled maintenance activities with their operationsMonitor the cost and effectiveness of process engineering activities to optimise resources, prioritise spending and achieve timeliness, reliability and safety standardsGather feedback on machine performanceAnalyse market availability to ensure optimum supply of resourceAnticipate forecasts based on available records and dataPlan budgets around expected volumes of workAllocate spending from budget according to site current and future needsPrioritise spending on mandatory activitiesMaintain system to monitor and control costsEvaluate, select and manage relationships with external contractors to minimise costs and ensure the organisation receives satisfactory standards of serviceRefer to the suppliers list for contractor informationContact multiple suppliers for competitive quotes when appropriateRaise purchase orders for required servicesAttain the necessary safety information from suppliers before work beginsInduct contractors onto siteInstruct contractors of required maintenance activityMonitor contractors during maintenance activities, intervening when necessaryCreate rescue plans when appropriateAllocate resource to support contractor activityLead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of functional professionals or other professionals to ensure that the plant meets its established targets and standardsConduct interviews for internal and external candidatesComplete induction, on boarding and probationary reviews in a timely mannerEvaluate individuals' performance and set objectives for the futureConduct Performance reviews within timescalesManage poor performanceManage attendance and timekeepingConduct Investigations, Disciplinary and Grievance procedures in line with company policyEnsure HR and Payroll are provided with data and documentation as and when requiredSeek advice from HR, Occupational Health or other support agencies e.g.

    ACAS, EEFCreate career development programmes for the team and develop medium-term planning for the growth of the processImplement and influence the organisation's Health and Safety strategy, developing and promoting health and safety amongst direct and indirect reportsAnalyse standard operating procedures to ensure they meet current legislation, updating when necessaryAnalyse the severity of hazards and prioritise the remedial actions required to correctEngage maintenance and/ or contractors to correct non-compliance health and safety issuesResearch appropriate external providers to supply corrective work for non-compliance issuesLiaise with senior management to communicate costings and forecastsAdecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
