    Are you a NMP who is knowledgeable and passionate about helping people who are experiencing problematic drug or alcohol drug use?

    The Role

    We are looking for a qualified NMP with a keen interest in supporting people who are experiencing problematic alcohol or drug use, to join our integrated substance misuse service in the London Borough of Redbridge.


    Whether you are highly experienced or new to the sector, this role will provide you with significant scope for growth and innovation within a supportive and friendly multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical professionals, as well as Via's Central Clinical Leads.


    The main purpose of this role is to provide excellent quality of clinical care to service users accessing treatment with us, improving their health and outcomes in their recovery.


    Responsibilities will include the following:

    • To clinically assess and initiate prescribing for new service users who are seeking opiate substitution therapy (Methadone, Espranor, Buvidal), ensuring responsive and timely initiation of prescribing.
    • To clinically assess service users who are alcohol dependent for their suitability for an on-site ambulatory (community) detoxification, and to support the nursing team during ambulatory detoxes, and with relapse prevention prescribing (e.g., Acamprosate).
    • To support effective continuity-of-care prescribing from prisons and inpatient settings.
    • To conduct regular clinical reviews in line with best practice guidelines.
    • To encourage service users to consider OST reduction plans, OST community detoxes within our Recovery Hub, and inpatient OST detoxification.
    • To routinely offer harm reduction advice and information including overdose prevention and naloxone, to help service users take an informed approach to their treatment, such as through recommending the SODA tool, and maintaining a recovery focus.
    • To support the multidisciplinary team of recovery practitioners, volunteers, and apprentices to have a greater awareness and understanding of clinical factors and decision making to support holistic treatment planning and risk assessment.
    • To attend and chair the weekly MDTs, and Via's weekly Central Clinical Meeting.
    Location and Hours

    The role is predominantly based at our main hub in Ilford Chambers, 11 Chapel Road, Ilford IG1 2DR but the role could involve occasional travel to external meetings and satellites within the borough, and to other Via locations as needed.


    Our usual hours of service are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with one late clinic on a Tuesday that colleagues cover in rotation.
