- Facilitate the preparation of annual property tax returns
- Review and process property tax payments
- Accounting for fixed assets (new asset additions, transfers, disposals, and sales)
- Maintain FAS (Fixed Asset System)
- Assist in property tax jurisdiction audits
- Perform GAAP/policy related research
- Assist in monthly financial close including primary responsibility for certain key closing tasks
- Preparation and entry of a variety of journal entries
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations including timely follow-up and clearing of reconciling items
- Responsible for several tax information requests required by Caterpillar tax department
- Support the identification and implementation of process improvements
- Solve problems and develop new methods of analysis
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested
- Participate in and/or lead special projects as needed
- Assure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX controls
- Assist in other financial areas as necessary
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or bachelor's degree in business with a minimum of 18 hours of accounting coursework
- Understanding of basic accounting procedures and knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability and desire to work in a collaborative, teamwork environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills, able to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt
- CPA/CMA or progress toward certification
- Experience with month, quarter, and year-end close and consolidations
- Experience in a complex environment
- Three or more years of experience preferred in accounting or finance
