    PACT Peer Support Specialist

    Full Time/ Non-Exempt/ Great Falls

    Position Overview:

    Under the supervision of the PACT Team Lead, the Specialist provides peer support services for individuals with severe and chronic mental illness.

    Job Duties:
    1. Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to help consumers to develop a personal recovery plan and identify opportunities to provide support as clients work to achieve their recovery goals
    2. Listens and encourages clients to talk about their lives, struggles and goals
    3. Promotes client self-determination and decision-making
    4. Offers encouragement, hope and reassurance to clients who are developing the necessary skills for integration into the community
    5. Models competency in recovery and maintaining ongoing wellness
    6. Must complete and pass medication training test within initial probation period
    7. Must be available to work weekday evenings and weekends to perform medication delivery (Team rotation about once every 12 weeks).
    8. Liaison with other members of the treatment team to develop an effective support system for the consumer
    9. Monitors and supports consumer through regular visits and reports progress or concerns to the treatment team
    10. Assist with three (3) contacts minimum per week for each assigned client.
    11. Helps clients set and achieve meaningful goals in the areas of mental health recovery, education, daily living skills, substance use, relationships, productivity, and leisure
    12. Assumes responsibility for the workload assigned, working independently and cooperatively with the team
    13. Acts as an advocate for mental health issues in the Many Rivers region
    14. Maintains records, reports, and statistics necessary for program functioning and evaluation, completes client notes in accordance with Many Rivers policy
    15. Co-operates and participates in evaluation and research
    16. Participates in program meetings, employee education and orientation, which will include a close-working relationship with multi-disciplinary team
    17. Comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and mandatory guidelines
    18. Responds to emergency health hazards as defined by the Medical Director or Supervisor
    19. Other duties as assigned by management
    Qualifications:
    • Successful completion of Grade 12.
    • 1-2 years experience in dealing with mental illness issues and related mental health services.
    • Must have a personal recovery experience for mental health and/or substance use.
    • Must be in recovery for 2 years.
    • Without incarceration, hospitalization, or inpatient admission exceeding 72 hours.
    • Must have some knowledge and experience of severe mental illness and treatment, and its impact on consumer/survivors and their families.
    • Computer skills an asset.
    • Must obtain Certification within 1 month of hired date.
    $1,000 Sign on Bonus

    Wage amount includes differential pay.
