    Job Title: Youth Care Specialist

    Position Summary:

    The Youth Care Specialist plays a pivotal role in guiding and supervising youth, promoting social, self-help, academic, and living skills. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety and supervision of all youth, serving as an advisor and positive role model, preventing and intervening in altercations, and effectively using the Behavior Modification System.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Guarantee the safekeeping and supervision of all youth, adhering to operational and contractual requirements;
    • Provide guidance and support as an advisor and positive role model for youth in the program;
    • Prevent and intervene in conflicts and incidents, utilizing authorized state-mandated training methods;
    • Foster personal growth and development in areas like personal responsibility, social skills, community living, interpersonal communication, and behavior;
    • During overnight shifts:
      • Supervise youth during quiet hours and conduct bed checks according to established schedules;
      • Complete required shift documentation;
    • Alert management immediately to any problems or incidents;
    • Communicate essential information to relevant team members and supervisors;
    • Document and review required notes in Shift Logs;
    • Maintain facility, equipment, and supplies in compliance with laws, regulations, and policies;
    • Teach youth how to maintain equipment within compliance standards;
    • Maintain repair and maintenance logs and inventory related equipment;
    • Pursue CPR and First Aid certification from nationally recognized organizations;
    • Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies, following National standards;
    • Participate in crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements;
    • Actively participate in day trips and special activities involving recreational sports, facility cleaning, ground maintenance, and equipment relocation;
    • Transport students and engage in other work-related tasks requiring driving;
    • Assist with special projects and other duties assigned.

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma/GED (degree preferred),
    • Minimum one-year experience working with youth in an educational or service program, preferably with troubled youth.
