The Advanced Technologies Section offers scientific, technical, operational, and thought leadership by developing, hardening, and deploying solutions for compute and data intensive computing environments.

Provides state-of-the-art computational and data science infrastructure, coupled with dedicated technical and scientific professionals, to accelerate scientific discovery and engineering advances across a broad range of disciplines.

Major

Duties/Responsibilities:

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of software architects, researchers, and engineers to build and deploy innovative interfaces for data discovery, transfer, and workflows assuring provenance and integrity.

Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Develop and implement interfaces to third-party software visualization tools and packages, databases, etc.
Participate in design discussions, reviews, and standup meetings.
Implement GUI user functions and components in state-of-the-art Web technologies.
Document applications, user manuals.
Conduct user studies, debug problems.
Basic Qualifications:

M.S.

degree in computer science or engineering or related field, with a minimum of 7 years of work experience; or B.S.

degree in computer science or engineering or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
Proficient understanding of content management systems (CMS), such as Drupal.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as SVN, GIT.
Experience with networking protocols, such as REST, HTTPS, and web sockets.
Familiar with web security concepts.
Familiar with search engine optimizations (SEO).
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and designers.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
