A rapidly growingprivate equity firm
is seeking a
Director of Tax & Compliance
(title flex DOE) to join their team.
This tax professional will provide primary oversight over the firm's tax and SEC regulatory compliance functions, as described in detail below:
Responsibilities:
Full ownership of tax reporting and tax compliance (U.S. federal, state and local, and international tax, as applicable) across all of the firm's affiliated entities, including but not limited to Management Company, Funds, Special Purpose Vehicles, Portfolio Companies
Collaborate with the investment deal teams on M&A tax due diligence for potential acquisitions and divestitures
Oversee personal tax reporting and filings for the firm's Partner-level executives (currently one Managing Partner and two Partners)
Includes tax reporting and filings for personal investments and personal entities
Manage FATCA, CRS, and other withholding requirements and filings for investors
Review all tax notices and serve as point person for any tax audits
Manage non-income and indirect tax matters
Coordinate with our third-party compliance consulting firm to oversee our SEC compliance program, including the compliance manual, code of ethics, and quarterly and annual internal compliance reviews
Continuously review and update key SEC compliance policies, procedures, and controls
Manage all SEC compliance filings, including Form ADVs and Form PFs
Oversee internal SEC compliance reporting (monitoring trading restricted lists, periodic attestations, and code of ethics reporting)
Assist and provide necessary input to the quarterly investment fair valuation process
Hire, develop, and manage future staff
Other ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field
10+ years of experience in the private equity industry, specifically in the tax function
Experience working for a "Big Four" accounting firm in the private equity tax practice strongly preferred
CPA license preferred (inactive status is OK)
Extreme attention to detail
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Strong project management skills, including ability to multi-task and drive multiple end-to-end projects simultaneously
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to consistently display a professional and courteous manner with all stakeholders (investors, co-workers, management, portfolio companies, third-party service providers, etc.)
