- Performs general maintenance work involving athletic field maintenance, grounds maintenance, custodial maintenance and general building maintenance, which may include minor carpentry, plumbing, roofing, concrete, or painting work.
- Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with projects and work activities, which may include a utility truck, tractor, bobcat, aerator, sod cutter, tiller, field drag, mower, field rake, weedeater, edger, seed spreader, leaf blower, hedge trimmer, vacuum cleaner, paint machine, pressure washer, tile saw, chain saw, circular saw, grinder, drill, welder, shovel, rake, post hole digger, janitorial tools, gardening tools, mechanic tools, hand tools, ladder, or two-way radio.
- Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, community service workers, inmate workers, vendors, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Provides general support to County departments/staff as needed; transports, collects and distributes mail; stores and distributes supplies and paper goods; assists with pickup/delivery of paper/aluminum recyclable materials; sets up tables/chairs for meetings/activities; assembles furniture/equipment.
- This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.
- High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training involving grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, equipment operation, manual labor; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
