    Description

    St. Mary Academy-Bay View is seeking a full-time special education teacher for the
    school year. The candidate is responsible for providing and coordinating
    academic support to students in grades 6 through 12. The person in this position will also take the lead on launching a new program at Bay View that supports students with
    learning differences that require more extensive support. It is expected that this new
    program will begin in the school year. Candidates must be committed to an
    all-girls and Mercy education.

    Responsibilities:
    Develop and update Individualized Service Plans for students with IEPs or 504 Plans;
    Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and parents to understand students'
    emerging needs, communicate progress, and coordinate plans;
    Match student tutors with students who need targeted support in a subject area;
    Work directly with students who need executive functioning support: organization,
    planning, prioritizing, and following through on tasks;
    Collaborate with the Dean of Students to develop plans for students with extensive medical conditions or absences;
    Participate in school meetings;
    Work with regular education teachers in a team effort to plan curriculum and
    student support;
    Coordinate test accommodations for students with ISPs for midterms, final exams,
    and standardized testing;
    Develop a cadre of "sister" students to partner with students in the new program
    for students with more significant learning differences.

    families.

    Education and Experience Requirements:
    A masters degree in Special Education or Reading Specialist preferred; and
    Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
