Data Governance Manager

Location: Cary, NC(Onsite)

12+Month Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and privacy of the data across the organization.
• Lead the data governance council and cross-functional teams to achieve data-related objectives and improve data management practices.
• Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and business units to ensure data governance initiatives align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's data assets.
• Establish and monitor data quality metrics and ensure compliance with data-related policies, standards, practices, and regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement in data governance strategies through assessments and aligning with evolving business needs and technology advancements.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff on data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
• Manage data-related risks and work with security teams to reinforce data protection mechanisms.
• Oversee the resolution of data quality issues and manage remediation plans.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a data governance, data management, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets, and data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing data policies and procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with data management frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK) and technologies used in data management and governance.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar.
• Experience with data governance tools and software solutions.
