Permanent Paraprofessional

Working alongside certified teachers and school staff, ESS paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting student education and assisting with various classroom tasks. They help address the academic, behavioral, and administrative needs of specific students, especially those with special requirements, throughout the school day.

Main Responsibilities

Reinforce class lessons for individual students or small groups under the teacher's guidance
Support classroom management and supervision based on teacher's instructions
Act as a key resource for substitute teachers when the regular teacher is absent
Assist students with special needs following the guidelines in their individualized education plans
Supervise students in various settings within the school premises and during activities
Monitor student progress, behavior, and communicate observations to teachers
Help with administrative tasks like grading, equipment setup, and instructional material preparation
Address students' academic, personal, and emotional needs and ensure a safe classroom environment
Assist with student transportation and demonstrate flexibility in additional assigned duties
Comply with ESS and school district policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED as a minimum educational requirement
Valid NJ criminal history documentation
Negative tuberculosis test results within 6 months of starting employment
